This November, Mark Jones Eyecare is proud to support Refuge and Salisbury Women’s Refuge — two incredible charities providing safety and hope for women and children escaping domestic abuse. For every lens we sell this month, we’ll donate £10 to these vital organisations.
The 25th of November marks the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, when the world turns orange — a colour symbolising hope and action for a future free from violence. The day also begins 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, a global movement urging everyone to take a stand.
The statistics are heartbreaking: around 140 women and girls worldwide are killed every day by a partner or family member — that’s one every 10 minutes. Here in the UK, 1 in 4 women will experience domestic abuse in their lifetime. Abuse can take many forms, including coercive control, stalking, and technology-based abuse such as tracking or online harassment.
Together, we can help make a difference — by raising awareness, challenging harmful behaviours, and supporting those who need it most.
If you or someone you know is experiencing abuse, support is available 24/7 through Refuge’s National Domestic Abuse Helpline: 0808 2000 247 or www.nationaldahelpline.org.uk.
