Sarah Adey
Sarah is a part-time dispensing optician here at MJEC and was previously our practice manager. With her depth of experience and knowledge of the practice, she’s a reassuring presence for both patients and the team. Sarah enjoys helping people choose the right frames and lenses, making sure every pair of glasses is comfortable, stylish, and suited to everyday life.

What I love about my job: I've worked here since 2013 - so what is it that keeps me turning up each week? Well, working at MJEC is like working with an extension of your own family - so maybe my work family. We all share different interests and varied professional skills, yet we all get on so well and enjoy fabulous banter not only with each other but with some of the lovely people who come here for their eye care. I have enjoyed listening to some amazing background stories from people of all walks of life.

Favourite glasses brand: Favourite brand is not just one, but two. I love the sassy, funky DUTZ styles, which are designed in the Netherlands. Then there are the WOOW frames fashioned in Paris, and they certainly carry a unique vibe that never goes unnoticed. Both brands embrace colour, and that’s what I love most.

Proudest achievement: Reaching the summit of the Dead Woman’s Pass on Machu Picchu in Peru in 2017. After trekking the Old Inca Trail for many days with a group of people from Salisbury, we got to the top of the ancient wonder - it was something I’ll never forget! The cherry on the cake was the fact I’d managed to raise several thousand pounds for the Stars Appeal charity along the way. This led me on to undertake a further challenge, walking approximately 50k of the Great Wall of China in spring 2019, which boosted my total fundraiser to over £7k.

Superpower: I think making window displays is my superpower. I loved being creative and using some of my antiques to create fun and inspiring windows. We even won an award for a Christmas window one year!
