Carl Hearse-Jones
Carl is the manager and a qualified dispensing optician here at MJEC. He’s the friendly face you’ll often find on the shop floor, guiding people through the process of choosing new glasses. With a great eye for style and a wealth of knowledge about lenses, Carl makes sure every pair not only looks good but feels comfortable and works perfectly for each person’s lifestyle.

What I love about my job: Without question, it’s the people. The people I work with and the people I serve make coming to work an absolute pleasure. It does help that we have an amazing selection of kit, products and suppliers, but I’m a people person really!

Favourite glasses brand: Killsgaard! Big chunky acetates, tortoiseshell, black and dark greens. What’s not to love?!

Proudest achievement: In 2018, at the height of my music career, I was booked to play at the legendary Berlin nightclub - Tresor. Set in the basement of an old power station in East Berlin, you perform to the crowd from a cage in next to pitch black darkness. I played a lot of my own music that night, a great feeling. One of those places you only dream of playing at.

Superpower: Fairly hard to give yourself a superpower, but I’d say mine is finding anyone interesting to talk to, if you ask the right questions! I do love a good chinwag!
